BEST MORNING COFFEE IN TOWN?
We always drink our morning coffee with our neighbours on Værnedamsvej (and Tullinsgade). We all switch between the cafés and restaurants, chasing the sun or a free seat. It’s a busy street, and the locals love it like that. A bit chaotic, but charming.
GREAT SPOTS FOR A BREAK?
Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is probably the most captivating place to visit any time of year. The winter garden with glass roof and the colors on the spacious halls with marble statues is impressive to any living soul. For an outdoor break we go to Pile Allé to play tennis. The outdoor courts are located at the foot of Frederiksberg Castle. Otherwise we love the old cinema Grand Theater. Its a gem of a cinema from 1913 a few blocks from the Town Hall Square. This is were you can watch a European movie while drinking wine and not have the smell of popcorn and gallons of coke around you. Its checker on the floor and red plush on the seats. They also have a classic café serving quiche, gazpacho, croissants and cakes.
CAN YOU GIVE US 3 DECOR ADDRESSES IN COPENHAGEN?
Shop Dora. They have the perfect mix of new and old, fun and elegant, vibrant and classic. The flea market behind Frederiksberg Town hall on Saturdays and Beau Marche for their selection of modern and vintage French homeware.
CAN YOU NAME A FEW OF YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO EAT?
We are never disappointed with Jah Izakaya, the Japanese restaurant on Gasværksvej. Les Trois Cochons is close to home or otherwise the rye bread sandwiches at Helges Ost on Værnedamsvej is great for lunch. They are only to go, but the square Sankt Thomas Plads around the corner has sun and benches.
WHERE DO TRUE COPENHAGENERS GO?
To the bar Rouge Oysters on Gl. Kongevej…and Refshaleøen! It looks like a wasteland, but the place is gradually being filled up with a mix of art, restaurants, street food and sport activities. We all bike to Refshaleøen – a 15 min. ride from the center. Tourist should enjoy that Denmark has a flat-as-a-pancake landscape and that the car-driving population are well trained in not killing cyclists. And you really can't get more local than riding a bike in Copenhagen.
WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PROJECTS IN COPENHAGEN?
